Our History
Founded in 1987, OSC began by providing operator services to long distance companies and to individual marketers. Soon OSC began offering teleservices products such as customer care and Interactive Voice Response system (IVR) services. By 1996, a significant portion of the company's revenues came from teleservices, the outsourcing of customer care and IVR services. In 1998, the company leveraged its relationship within the telecommunications industry to include directory assistance services. By providing single-source, nationwide listings as well as other content, the company defines the industry standard. OSC's service offering includes Enhanced Directory Assistance, White Page and Yellow Page listings, extended service for Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, all international listing available today, and Call Completion.
In October, 2000, Platinum Equity purchased OSC, recognizing the potential for significant growth in its telecom and teleservices product areas. Under Platinum leadership, OSC more than doubled its sales, increased its sales force, and expanded its technical facilities.
In April 2003, OSC launched Voice Recognition Directory Assistance (VDA), utilizing technology from Scansoft and incorporating the new platform into its existing platform. This new VDA system provided automated local and national DA listings with a seamless hand-off to a live operator when necessary. The addition of VDA to OSC's suite of service offerings provided a compelling value proposition to OSC's customers while allowing OSC to maintain its high quality standards.
In 2004 the company saw an opportunity to strengthen its position in the industry by acquiring Excell Agent Services. Formed in 1994, Excell Agent Services had both the scale and stability to support long-term professional services relationships. Both companies are highly respected in the call center outsourcing industry. Together the two companies offer a complete suite of products with onshore call centers at competitive offshore pricing.
